THE PREMISE.
HOGWARTS ACADEMY
Twenty two miles to the north of London lies Hogwarts School for Boys and Girls, one of the finest schools England has to offer. For years, the social and financial elite have sent their children to Hogwarts, a school comparable to Eton. Excellence is the ultimate goal of Hogwarts, making them leaders in academics, arts, music, theater and especially sports.
In more recent years, specifically under Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Hogwarts School has made strides to diversify its student population. Scholarships were set up and in just ten years Hogwarts had become a much more diverse place of learning. The entrance exam and interview were still stringent, even for an eleven year old, and Hogwarts still was a school for the cream of the crop of the UK and Ireland. After acceptable entrance marks, applicants meet with the Headmaster or Headmistress and the heads of the Hogwarts Houses to determine a house match.
Rigorous academics, sports and all aside, Hogwarts is a school like any other, full of teenagers. Gossip, rumors and weekend debauchery happen, and with some big names and big money at the school, it can happen on a very grand scale. There is no Voldemort, no Death Eaters, and the only war now is being waged in the Middle East. Hogwarts Academy is simply a school full of children preparing for university.
Characters at Hogwarts Academy are based off of the Marauder Era characters of Harry Potter, but twisted, tweaked and updated to the present day. For example, the Black in the books family were "practically royalty" among the purebloods. Well, nothing much has changed: Sirius and his family are among the old English aristocracy, and all of them are in line for the throne. Professional Quidditch players are distributed among the sports, and are the all-star athletes of the team. Purebloods can be best equated with old money families, and Muggle Borns are likely scholarship students, are have no legacy preceding them at Hogwarts Academy.
